The Swiss StudentLife Study: Investigating the emergence of an undergraduate community through dynamic, multidimensional social network data

The Swiss StudentLife Study (SSL Study) is a longitudinal social network data collection conducted in three undergraduate student cohorts (N1 = 226, N2 261, N3 660) 2016−2019. main goal of the study was to understand emergence informal communities and their effects on different individual outcomes, such as well-being, motivation, academic success. To this end, multiple dimensions ties were assessed, combining computer-based surveys, sensors, media data, field experiments. dynamics these networks measured various time scales. In paper, we present design strategy SSL Study. We discuss practical challenges solutions related four areas that key success our project: design, research ethics, communication, population definition.
